Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Random Things I've Heard

1. Anthony and Jeff from The Wiggles used to be in an 80's rock band in Australia called The Cockroaches.

2. Alaskan snow crab fishing, like you see on this show,is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world

3. Only 6% of listeners cover the cost of keeping Klove on the air.

4. Today is the National Day of Prayer. (**Update**Check out Praying for Your Prodigal's post on this!)

5. Rebecca St. James is performing for the President and his family in honor of the day.

6.NC State men's basketball still hasn't found a coach. **Update on this - they are announcing who they've picked on Saturday. I've heard it was Sidney Lowe, but I'm not a big State fan, so that isn't official.**

7. I've heard that Stick It is a funny movie. I'm hoping to get to the movies to see it.

8. Zacarias Moussaoui received life in prison for planning a terrorist act on 9/11. (I totally disagree with this decision but this isn't a political site, so that's all I'll say!)

9. The Anchormen are going to be at my church on May 14th. Yay!

10. Greensboro, NC is supposed to have a warm sunny day today with isolated thunderstorms overnight.

11. Paris was voted off of American Idol (I did agree with this!)

12. Chris Young won Nashville Star.

13. Massachusetts wants My Space to raise their minimum age limit. (I agree with this to a point, but I also think that if you keep an eye on your kids they won't be seeing things they aren't supposed to.) **Okay, an update on this one. I think I'm coming across that there are just a bunch of sorry parents out there. That wasn't my intention at all. What I was trying to say is that if My Space raises the age, young teens will probably just lie and say they are older and stay on My Space. In order to keep them off of My Space, it would have to be the parent's responsibility. And I know you can't watch them 24/7 though you may try. My Space should not have offensive things, but I really can't see how changing the age limit would help anything if the kids are looking for that sort of thing. Sorry if I ruffled any feathers!**

My TT are up. Happy Thursday!

My TT are up. I tend to take issue with MySpace, but even moreso, with the parents who are not watching what their children are doing.

I was so happy that chris young won nashville star. That other guy's eyes freaked me out. LOL. And think Paris should've gone home, it's the first week I've agreed in a while (other than Kelli)

I new the wiggles knew each other for a bit before being the "wiggles", but I had no idea the 2 were in a group together.

Happy Thursday, my tt is up. :)

Wow! The Wiggles in a rock band? Hard to imagine that!

I think I would agree with the my space age limit increase. It's pretty wild over there.

I am in the dark here...what is going on with MySpace? I have a blog there but if things are really bad, perhaps I should delete it...what do you think?

Thank you for visiting my TT today. *s*

Wow we both mentioned KLOVE in our post today! How cool is that!

I was so glad Paris was gone. Hubby and I were both cheering!

Happy Thursday!

The Anchormen not Anchorman. Whew. for a second I was wondering what kind of church you attend.

LOL. What a fun list. From the Cockroaches to the Wiggles, seems somewhat unfortunate on both counts.

Here's my list for today:

The Wiggles creep me out.

hey! thanks for stopping by my TT. i read your prayer one also--there are so many things that we should pray for that i think we just take for granted (the president, supreme court, etc). great list!
and the myspace thing--i totally agree. my husband's boss said his daughter spent some ridiculous amount of time on the internet the other day (she's 10) and i was amazed! how do people not pay attention to what's going on? i'm not mrs. athletic but i don't believe in sitting in front of the computer/tv all day--especially not a 10 year old!!!

You've heard a lot. I don't think #1 is too far out there considering the Blue Clues guy was into the sorta thing, too. Kinda... LOL

About the myspace thing....as a parent....
Try keeping up with a teen online. If they have their own computer, you basically have to go through their files on a daily basis to find the things you don't want them to look at. This erupts into the "you don't trust me" argument.
If they use a "family-use" computer, you can check more easily, but you still have to spy on the kid to see what they've been up to.
I have a college-aged son, and I thought I was diligent with his computer use, but I stumbled upon some things that proved me wrong.

The only surefire way is to NOT HAVE A COMPUTER in the house. And no cell phone, either.

I do get a little weary of being told what parents "should" do by people who don't have kids. It's hard enough, ya know? (I'm not being beyotchy here, just honest.)

For some reason I couldn't leave a comment on your other blog today. Good 13 list and I will be praying for Mary.

I'm more than a little outraged at the verdict.

MySpace is a scary site.

Good list and #1 is not only true but I have a friend who worked for the Captain at a fast food restaurant when he was the manager and she was in high school. She happened to mention he had a great set of abs and an amazing chest.

*laughs*

C

My TT are up and running.

Since computers are available in libraries, and library staff say it's the parents responsibility, I think you're putting parents in a bind. We don't leave guns around for kids, or let them drive cars when they are 12. Why should they be associating with pedophiles. Also, some parents are genuinely crummy.

My TT is up.
